Your personal brand is worth more than gold.
Follow these 20 rules to thrive on LinkedIn.
1. LinkedIn is a game, and everyone is playing.
↳ Choose your own goal.
↳ Example: followers, likes, sales.
2. People are playing different games.
↳ There are people with 1k followers making more money than you, and people with 100k earning less.
3. Consistency is important
↳ To be a serious player, you have to show up. Those “I’m back after a month o ff” posts, just tell me you’re not serious.
4. Your network is your networth.
↳ It’s cliche, but true.
↳ Other than my cofounder, everyone from my team is from LinkedIn.
6. Different rules for different people.
↳For some, carousels work, for some it’s text and photo.
↳ Don’t do what people tell you to do, test your account and analyse.
7. Engagement matters, but not as much as you think.
↳ People spend hours engaging on LinkedIn, and it does boost your profile.
↳ But there is a limit. My reach is more with 20 comments, than it is with 200.
8. Content is 99% of the game.
↳ People spend too much time worrying about the algorithm and shadowb*nning.
↳ If you spent this time improving your content, you would be better off.
9. People don’t really care about you.
↳ Everyone is trying to further their own cause.
↳ Imposter syndrome is in your head. Get your thoughts out there.
10. Get on calls.
↳ Comments are okay, DM’s are good but alls are GOLDEN.
11. Put some ‘personal’ in your personal brand.
↳ Videos people. They won’t get as much reach, but people get to know you.
↳ You are your brand, so show yourself.
12. AI pictures suck.
↳ You are not a perfect AI creation, use your real picture.
13. AI comments suck.
↳ C’mon guys, just stop it.
14. AI is not the answer.
↳ You’re trying to create a personal brand here.
↳ If you spent as much time learning copywriting as you did trying to hack the system with AI, you might actually create decent content.
15. Getting hate sucks.
↳ I thought hate messages wouldn't affect me, but they do, obviously.
↳ Try and be rational, if 99.9% of comments are positive, you’re fine.
16. LinkedIn is a b*tch.
↳ I have been banned twice, and I still don’t know why. Tread carefully.
17. LinkedIn is a tool.
↳ Over the last 6 months, I got addicted to LinkedIn, and then got over it.
↳ Remember, this is a professional tool, set your purpose and fit LinkedIn into it.
18. Delete the app.
↳ You don’t need to be wired into LinkedIn 24/7. Set yourself boundaries.
19. Set your damn goals.
↳ 90% of you are posting with no goal in mind.
↳ What are you trying to do?
↳ Work this out first, and suddenly your content plan is much easier.
20. Sort your profile out.
↳ I had an ugly profile for so long. This will damage your brand.
↳Try to be excellent in everything you do.
