Bad LinkedIn advice:
"Post every day. You'll succeed eventually."
Not true.
I see people posting on here day after day — for years — without getting results.
Because "showing up" doesn't lead to success — not without mastery.
It's like weightlifting.
If I lift every day with terrible form, I'm going to get injured. Not fit.
Be consistent.
But more importantly, hone your skills.

Writing requires thinking.
Thoughts, unwritten, are just thoughts.
Writing—like speech, construction, programming, and art—transforms thought from nothing to something.

So far this year, I have had more than 3,400 email exchanges with financial advisors asking me questions about challenges in their businesses. 🤯
Most financial advisor marketing challenges should be solved with strategies, not tactics. For example...
Tactic: "I want my marketing to do better, so I will apply this copywriting formula to my website."
Strategy: "I want my marketing to do better, so I will speak directly to my target market and solve their problems."
Tactic: "I want more people to open my emails, so I'll use emojis and brackets to grab attention."
Strategy: "I want more people to open my emails, so I'll focus on writing emails that people actually want to read."
Tactic: "I want to set more appointments with prospective clients, so I'm going to buy some leads."
Strategy: "I want to set more appointments with prospective clients, so I'm going to make my offer more appealing to them."

Ever heard of the difference between inbound and outbound marketing?
Outbound is when you chase people, through tactics like running ads, sending emails or making cold calls.
Inbound is when people chase you, because they have such a high opinion of you that when they decide they need your service, you're the first person they think of.
So how do you get people to chase you?
By building a strong brand.
Sadly, that's not quick or easy. It involves doing regular content marketing over the long-term, so that you methodically increase your visibility and credibility – kind of like filling a bathtub one drop at a time. But it does work.
Once you've got a strong brand, you'll attract clients and referrals.
Outbound marketing can be very effective – but it involves a lot of time and money. The beauty of inbound is that your clients proactively contact you.
P.S. If you don't have the time or capacity to attract clients through content marketing, I can help.

It's surprising how often the concept of "free leads" still comes up in business. Many CFOs and CEOs request them, thinking that their product should speak for itself.
But let's not forget the Post-it Note story. Did you know that for two years, the company gave them away for free? It took time for the product to truly "stick" and become the dependable companion we know today. And those free samples weren't actually free for the distributing business, were they?! 💸
Even though the yellow note remains a classic, Post-it Notes have made the electronic jump - we've all seen Miro or Figma boards - showcasing the power of a truly sticky product and a strong recognisable brand. But it all happened with significant investment from the company, both monetary and time-wise.
Said that, as a marketer, I like to think of myself as a magician, because even with a budget (which is never really enough, let's be honest), a bit of magic is needed to pull off a successful campaign and creativity often is born out of constraints be it budget or otherwise🧞♀️
