Business Improvement is all about giving time to your team to discuss and see where the challenges are and make a plan to do something about it.
It doesn't need to be complex or hard.
It does need discipline though and this is where a lot of teams get stuck.
Discipline is about putting time aside to have the conversations. It is about making sure it happens and not bumped off when firefighting take precidence. Discipline is about making sure any actions are followed up and implemented.
Last week, I took a client through one such exercise last week.
Was it the perfect time to do it? Of course not.
Were the team members needing to pull themselves away from a busy schedule? You bet!!
The outcomes? Some amazing conversations and a prioritised action list that I will keep them accountable to do something about when I am back there in a fortnights time.
Investing the time will and does bring results that continues to repay itself a long time in the future.

🎯 Is your team struggling to hit objectives? Maybe it's not about missing the mark, but rather setting the wrong targets.
💡The framework of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) revolutionizes this perspective. Rather than focusing on tasks, OKRs are centered on overarching goals that encourage innovative approaches. They foster collaboration and bring a sense of purpose.
However, it's crucial to remember that poorly defined OKRs are as productive as a rudderless ship. They should be:
1. Aligned with your business's vision
2. Attainable yet challenging
3. Measurable and time-bound
Let's shift our focus from a task-completion mindset to a goal-achievement mindset for an agile, forward-looking approach towards success.
⚖️ Foster a culture where 'missing the target' doesn't induce fear but fuels learning and adaptation. Let's reinvent objective-setting together.

Value Creation - This is a word you will see getting thrown here and there in companies in relation to a team member, a team, and at a company level. However, its meaning is different at an individual, or at a team and at a BU level. Sometimes the meaning gets diluted when we start asking questions like what value a person has delivered in terms of cost savings, revenue growth etc. We live in such an interconnected world that it is impossible to deliver dollar value at an individual value. It takes multiple teams working together, doing their piece of work at the right speed with the right accuracy levels to realise the end business value. It is like a beautiful picture that looks complete if all the pieces of the puzzle come together in the right way. Even if one of the pieces isn't where it is supposed to be, the whole picture looks disoriented. Create the right team for each initiative like a POD, attach a value to the initiative, hold individuals accountable for their piece of work and judge them only on that and the lead responsible for getting all pieces together and working with other team leads to deliver value. Get over with a personal value syndrome or at least change the meaning of value at an individual level.

With so many variables involved in complex projects, you can never guarantee success... however, you can guarantee failure.
Guarantee #4: Create silos. In addition to not being transparent make sure that individuals and teams work in discrete units and never share information. Don't let anyone feel like they are part of a larger team or mission. Failure Guaranteed
