Last night, we hosted our first VIP dinner for Product leaders in Austin - sharing the first glimpse of our Product Benchmarks Report (grab an early bird version in the comments!) with 20+ senior Product and UX leaders from companies like Miro, RingCentral, BlueBeam, Fondo, Osano or Briefcam. I never expected so much enthusiasm and a heated debate but well, there we go - when the results are controversial (Sales-led companies have beaten Product-Led companies on all metrics)and the folks are passionate - what can you expect?
Thank you everyone for coming last night and sharing all your insights and feedback - we'll be definitely hosting more of those soon - give me shout in the comments which city we should go to next!

What I learned today @DigitalOlympus #DOXonference2024 from top-SEOs like Kevin Indig, Aleyda Solis, and Carrie Rose:
- Content Intelligence tools will only get you to parity. And paity or incremental gain is not enough in 2024 - Skyscraper Technique is sooo 2016. What you need today to outperform cometitors in SEO is original research (=information gain), superior UX, shorter Time-To-Result (=often *lower* wordcount BUT without information loss! + custom graphics to visualize concepts in a bite-sized form),
- Backlinks still matter - and now we know a lot more about *which* matter more than others. To get the most out of your backlinks, you need to get them from trending stories. Monitor spikes in kw trends and jump the wagon by creating a compelling story tapping into the trend and getting the attention.
- There are 3 types of AI overviews, impacting ctr to a different extent. Being featured in AI Overview has a negative impact on clicks, whether the source is provided or not. But *not* being featured in AI overview where it appears has an even worse impact. Try to reverse engineer what the featured pages are doing (e.g. with the help of e.g. https://ziptie.dev/).

I've recently read in Kyle Poyar's Growth Unhinged newsletter (again, no sponsorship - I just like Kyle 🥲) that Clay (the hottest sales data enrichment tool of 2024) has been struggling with the fake account problem:
It gave me instant flashbacks to the times I worked on a 100% self-serve, PLG tool with an ARPU of ~ $15 per month.
Team Postfity (a social media scheduling tool like Buffer or Hootsuite) thought they had a lot of power users...
At least based on their activity levels.
Team Postfity noticed that some users had a lot higher activity than others.
*A lot*. It seemed that some users were logging into the app several times per day!
The first reaction was to cheer at how much the “power users” were enjoying the app.
But it wasn’t long before the reality check came...
